System Accreditation at TUM
TUM was system-accÂreÂdited by the Swiss Center of Accreditation and Quality AssuÂrance in Higher EduÂcation (OAQ) on 14 May 2014, with no stipuÂlations imÂposed. The system-accreditation was renewed on 26 June 2020 and is valid through 30 September 2028. It applies to all degree programs that have passed TUM's inÂternal quality management assessment proÂcedures.
The accÂreÂditation procedure essenÂtially conÂsists of an inÂternal self-evaÂluation followed by a seÂries of external appÂraisals conÂducted by an agency certified by the AccÂreÂditation Council.
The benchÂmarks used in this proÂcedure inÂclude the 'European StanÂdards and GuideÂlines for Quality AssuÂrance in Higher EduÂcation' (ESG) as well as the criteria speciÂfied by the Standing ConÂference of the Ministers of EduÂcation in Germany () and the .
In Bavaria, all bachelor's and master's proÂgrams are subÂject to accÂreÂditation - a proÂvision based on Article 10 of the Bavarian Higher Education Act ().
