Becoming addicted is not the plan, but sometimes it happens anyway. In addition to ‘classics’ such as alcohol, cigarettes and other drugs, people can become addicted to social media, pornography, gaming, sports or the purchase of material goods. But what happens when the cosy after-work beer becomes a compulsion or you suddenly can't stop scrolling through social media apps? The transition from pleasure to compulsion can be so gradual that not even those affected realise it.
Dominik Forster has learned how to deal with addiction the hard way. That's why he tells us what he wishes he had known before he slipped into addiction. With knowledge about addiction, its signs and background, you can protect yourself from becoming an addict yourself.

Psychiatrist? Psychologist? Psychotherapist? These terms can be confusing.
This presentation will start with a brief introduction to mental health and will list warning signs for possible mental illnesses. The main focus will be a road map of the mental health landscape in Germany: Where can you find support? Who are the relevant health care professionals? How can you reach out to them? You will also learn what to do if you do not speak German or if your Geman language skills are limited.
