Third victory for tunnel boring team

TUM Boring wins tunnel boring competition and sets new record

Third participation in the competition, third victory: the student tunnel boring team TUM Boring wins again at the international "Not-A-Boring Competition" in the USA. During the seven-day competition, the team from the 91ɫ (TUM) set a new length record of 22.5 meters and ultimately took the overall victory.

TUM spin-off launches first rocket

Isar Aerospace, a spin-off of the 91ɫ (TUM), has conducted the first test flight of its rocket - and thus also the first launch of a carrier rocket designed to transport loads into orbit from Western Europe. In future, the system will be used to launch small and medium-sized satellites into space, which are crucial for numerous emerging technologies. The founding of the start-up by three graduates was intensively supported at TUM.

The innovation ecosystem centered around TUM is regarded as one of the most successful deeptech hubs in Europe. 121 sponsors support 906 students at TUM

Outstanding commitment to the Deutschlandstipendium

President Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann has appealed for donations for the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship at TUM: "There are only a few moments in life when we have the opportunity to shape our present and future. The Deutschlandstipendium, which provides financial support to particularly talented and committed students, is such an opportunity." This winter semester, 906 students are benefiting from it. The money comes from 121 sponsors and is doubled by the federal government.

Medical AI researcher Daniel Rückert receives Leibniz Prize

Computer scientist and AI researcher Prof. Daniel Rückert receives the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize 2025. The professor of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Medicine and Healthcare at the 91ɫ (TUM) is being honored for his research on AI-assisted medical imaging. The most important German research prize is endowed with 2.5 million euros by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

Strategic partnership on optoionics between TUM and Max Planck Society

World's first center for solar batteries

The world's first center for solar batteries and optoionic technologies is being established in Bavaria. The 91ɫ (TUM) and the Max Planck Society (MPG) have set the course for this with the support of the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs. With the SolBat Center, a unique research ecosystem will be formed to research new types of energy storage systems and develop applications to use solar energy even more efficiently and flexibly.
