Nils Sparwasser, DLR Earth Observation Center
On the occasion of its 40th anniversary, the Kunsthalle München is dedicating the exhibition “Civilization” to the question of how we live today and illustrates the diversity and contradictions of our civilization. In collaboration with the TUM Center for Culture and Arts, a series of lectures will be held at TUM.
Prof. Hannes Taubenböck will kick off the series with the guest lecture “Diagnosis 'homo sapiens'. What do earth observation satellites see and how can this help humanity?” (in German): Satellites make the invisible visible. They help us to measure trace gases and temperatures, detect unevenness on the ground with millimeter precision from space and reveal long-term trends and changes in our environment. Prof. Taubenböck introduces us to the fascinating subject of earth observation and uses beautiful and informative images to show what this technology can do and how it can be used to our benefit.
Admission is free of charge. Please for the event.
